Our Story

Speed Academy Pte. Ltd. was first established by Ms. Neo, Head Coach, with a vision of developing players through purposeful netball training while nurturing not only their skills, but also their character and confidence.

As the academy grew, Ms. Neo felt strongly that access to netball should not be determined by a family’s financial circumstances. She believes that every child who has the passion and desire to learn netball should have the opportunity to do so, regardless of their background.

With this in mind, she subsequently established Speed Netball Academy Singapore Ltd. (NPO) with the aim of giving back to the community and creating greater access to the sport. Through the NPO, we provide support and subsidised training opportunities for children from less-privileged backgrounds, helping to ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent a child from participating in a sport they love.

The proceeds generated through Speed Academy Pte. Ltd. help support these community initiatives, including sponsorship and subsidised training opportunities for selected children.

But our vision goes beyond making netball accessible. We believe that sport has the power to bring people together. Netball creates friendships, builds confidence, teaches teamwork and resilience, and brings people from different backgrounds together through a shared passion. Through our community programmes, we hope to use the sport we love as a way to connect people, strengthen the community and create meaningful opportunities for everyone to participate.

Our Coaching Philosophy

At the heart of our coaching philosophy is “Excellence Over Perfection.”

We believe that excellence does not mean being perfect. Instead, it means having the spirit of excellence — the willingness to continually learn, improve, challenge yourself and give your best.

Most importantly, excellence looks different for everyone. A player's journey should not be measured by comparing them with another player. What matters is whether they are growing from where they started and becoming the best version of themselves.

A player who is learning their first basic pass, a player who is developing confidence in competition, and a player striving to perform at the highest level may all have very different goals — but each can pursue their own version of excellence.

That is why we encourage our players to compete with themselves, not against one another. We want them to celebrate their own progress, learn from setbacks, embrace challenges and understand that growth takes time.

Through netball, we hope to develop not just better players, but better individuals — young people who are resilient, disciplined, confident, compassionate and willing to strive for excellence in whatever they choose to pursue.
